Welcome to our 2010 Olympic Year Conference!

This year's conference, "Families, a Journey of Generations Moving Mountains" should be very exciting for all of us whether you are a person with a disability, family member, caregiver, service provider, advocate, friend or professional.

We are happy to tell you that we are combining our efforts to create this conference with two other well know family groups, the B.C. Association for Community Living and the Canadian Association for Community Living.

Family Focus enjoys a 23-year tradition of organizing conferences "for families by families". Come to Whistler B.C. this coming Oct 22-24 and experience the atmosphere of a National conference where we will share information, learn together, support one another and  celebrate our loved ones and each other.

As a board of directors we will be fundraising hard to be able to keep the cost of the conference as low as possible and therefore accessible to allow as many people as possible to attend. We are extremely grateful to each one of our sponsors for their contribution to the conference ensuring it's great success.

Our 3-day conference is meant to provide you with new information, new ideas and new opportunities to strengthen us as a family movement and to allow us to continue to move mountains for our loved ones. With the wide selection of sessions being offered, there is bound to be something of interest for everyone.

My husband Gord and I attended our first Family Focus Conference in Richmond in 1988 and we came home from that weekend with a new sense of determination and focus. It was such a moving experience; with 700 family members there, it was all we talked about for a month. We believe it was our awakening to the disability movement and our responsibility as parents to create the best life possible for our daughter and for other children with disabilities. Here I am today, seven conferences later, and for the second time chairing this conference for the Family Focus Society. My favorite part of the conferences is reconnecting with old friends from around the province. Join us at Whistler this Oct 22 - 24 for another fabulous time, meet old friends, make new friends and take in some world class information sessions that might just help you move the next mountain!.
